We’re feeling good about Zenith’s latest Zenith Chronomaster Original Pink. With its stand-out, sunray-finished dial, this timepiece is a conversation starter. Which is perfect, because it’s meant to raise awareness about breast cancer.

Specifically, the Original Pink is designed to support Susan G. Komen, an organization that provides patient navigation, advocacy and other resources for breast cancer patients. And while it’s not technically a limited edition, it will only be available during Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October. And again, 20 percent of sales proceeds will directly benefit the organization.Supporting Susan G. Komen will make you feel good. But the Chronomaster Original Pink will make you look good, too. Based on the instant-classic, chronograph collection launched last year, this retro-inspired watch has a unisex 38mm steel case. It is also powered with the most recent version of the El Primero automatic high-frequency chronograph calibre with 1/10th of a second measurement. But what makes it truly unique is the stunning metallic pink dial.
It’s a dramatic reimagining of the Zenith Chronomaster Original Pink display, but a quite attractive one to be sure. The layout is still the same but the monochromatic color scheme contrasted with the shiny, steely case creates a whole new way of looking at this timepiece. It’s just as legible and recognizable, but the pink palette provides a new point of view.

And finding fresh ways of thinking about cancer is crucial for providing better care. The Zenith Chronomaster Original Pink is inspired by the iconic design of the ZENITH A386 collection of timepieces from the 1960s. Undoubtedly, the most visually distinctive design element within its 38 mm stainless steel case is its pink dial, representative of the pink breast cancer awareness ribbon popularized by the Susan G. Komen in the 1990s. The unique aesthetic language also includes the emblematic tri-colour chronograph registers in a light pink shade, the trapezoid date window at 04:30 and the white chronograph second hand. The black inner scale surrounding the dial of the A386, once used to calculate time spent working using a 1/100th of an hour time division system, finds a new purpose in the Chronomaster Original, with its 1/10th of a second chronograph hand making a rotation around the dial in 10 seconds, totalling 100 measurable time units.

To achieve the striking metallic colour of the Chronomaster Original Pink edition, a brass dial plate is first galvanically coated in a silver colour to provide a bright metallic base. Then, the satin sunburst brushing is delicately applied, allowing each of the dial’s different elements to reflect light differently. Finally, a layer of semi-translucent pink lacquer is carefully applied to provide a vibrant tint while allowing the metallic finish of the dial’s base to shine through.

The Zenith Chronomaster Original Pink Original is equipped with one of the latest versions of the El Primero caliber, dubbed the El Primero 3600. With its high frequency of 5 Hz (36’000 VpH), the movement can precisely offer a true 1/10th of second indication, not a moment of precious time lost. Autonomy has also been rendered more efficient, with an extended power reserve of 60 hours. Visible through the sapphire display back, the new architecture features a sleek design.
