These Seiko 5 Sports Divers Were Designed by Fans in Honor of the Watch’s 55th Anniversary
Last summer, Seiko invited fans to customize their own versions of the original Seiko 5 Sports watch from 1968 in anticipation of the iconic high-beat diver’s 55th anniversary this year.
As voted on by the public, Seiko is now unveiling the four winning models. Each new watch will be limited to 1,968 pieces and will come from a different region of the world. The edition number will be engraved on the see-through caseback, which reveals the in-house caliber 4R36 automatic movement. Perhaps the most visually striking model is the Ref. SRPK08 from Asia, featuring a pink gold-plated stainless steel case with a maroon bezel around a matching pink gold-colored dial.
This watch, along with the others, features the same 42.5mm case diameter and 100m of water resistance. From Japan comes the monochromatic SRPK03, an all-silver-colored piece with black accents and vintage-inspired red seconds hand. The SRPK07 model from Europe features a stainless steel case with a retro-looking black bezel surrounding an orange dial, while the SRPK05 model from the Americas sports the same steel case, but with a different black bezel design and a black dial with orange accents.
Coming to the U.S. market in April, each of these limited-edition Seiko 5 Sports watches from the Customize Campaign will be priced at $220.
