Omega De Ville Trésor seems to be on a roll this year. A short while back, the brand introduced the latest evolution of the iconic Speedmaster Professional, powered by the new Master Co-axial Chronometer certified caliber 3861. And now, among other 2021 novelties, Omega has announced the new De Ville Trésor Power Reserve, a dressy timepiece, featuring a useful power reserve complication clad in yellow gold.
Like other members of the Tresor family, the dial on the new Tresor Power reserve continues to exhibit a sense of simplicity and refinement with nice attention to detail. The base dial has been presented in a muted shade of silver and features a subtle texture to make it a little dynamic. What further heightens the visual interest is that the dial is not completely flat but is slightly curved on the outer edges to mirror the curvature of the domed sapphire crystal and the applied indices and lend the watch an elegant and retro vibe.
As the name suggests, this watch comes with a power reserve complication which has been presented using a nicely recessed circular display at 12. Furthermore, to keep the balance of the dial intact, Omega De Ville Trésor has replaced the central second’s hand with a small running seconds indicator at 6, and the ‘Master Co-axial’ and Omega branding at 9 and 3. The hands like the indices are made of 18k yellow gold and have a baton-style shape giving the watch a cohesive look. Interestingly, the minute hand is slightly curved to make it easier to read the time.
The Yellow gold case is beautifully polished and measures a very wearable 40mm in diameter. It has a nice rounded design with downward curving lugs that should make the watch sit comfortably on a wide variety of wrists. The use of precious metal brings in a nice sense of warmth and would also give the watch a reassuring heft, something that is generally associated with a high-quality luxury watch. The case is water-resistant to a paltry 30 meters, which is quite acceptable in the genre of dress watches.
Ticking inside the watch is Omega De Ville Trésor in-house caliber 8935. A hand-wound movement, the caliber 8935 is a technical powerhouse. The movement operates at 3.5Hz and offers a power reserve of 3 days using two barrels. It is METAS certified, features a free-sprung balance with a silicon balance spring, and can withstand 15000 Gauss of magnetic resistance. In addition to this, the movement has been beautifully decorated using Arabesque Geneva stripes throughout the bridges, black screws, and an 18k Sedna gold balance bridge.
